Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then found many other marked vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests show the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any harm in connection with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the public for information.
A senior official said the incident left him speechless and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
